The world is currently consumed by pain, anguish, fear, and uncertainty but Dev Syn makes it a point to hand deliver some sugar coated celebration on "Diosa Birthday". Even if just for a moment, the new track from the Bronx rapper is a swift departure from reality to take on a more manageable mission, putting a smile on someone's face. Dev does just that as he rolls out the red carpet to big up his friend on her big day. Fit with playful admiration and chuckling praise, it's a heartfelt little idea track.

While the song's center of gravity may reflect Drake's "Ratchet Happy Birthday" the building blocks of the vibe are much more akin to the 6 God's "Nice For What". The synthetic percussion stacks kick and boom in all the right places with a slightly washed out R&B sample creating an uplifting background melody to get behind. Inside this formula Dev Syn comes off as comfortable and capable. He applies some wit and a smirk where needed but also retains his cool to effectively give the track a breezy collected attitude. As far as developing itself around a mood "Diosa Birthday" checks all the boxes, and could certainly soundtrack your next Tik Tik or Snapchat birthday moment.

Even outside the confines of musical presentation Dev extends his personable brand on this one. His friend, the subject of the track, will receive all credits and proceeds from the song. What a thoughtful release concept. After all the happiness of a birthday isn't really born from commemorating another 365 laps around the sun. That b!day joy comes from knowing people care about you as one by one they reach out with jokes, memories, and messages to remind you of your importance.
